Samsung Starts Rolling Out One UI 8.5 Globally: Here’s What Galaxy Users Can Expect
Samsung has officially kicked off the global rollout of One UI 8.5, its latest software update based on Android 16, and Galaxy users across several countries are already starting to receive it.
After initially launching the update in South Korea earlier this month, Samsung is now expanding the rollout to markets including the United States, Europe, Canada, India, and other parts of Asia. For millions of Galaxy users, this update brings not just a refreshed design, but also a major push toward AI-powered smartphone features.
Reports from users on Reddit and X suggest that the update is already appearing on devices in countries like Spain, Norway, Serbia, Canada, and the U.S. Beta testers in India, Germany, the UK, Poland, China, and Korea are also reportedly getting the stable version.
One UI 8.5 Brings a Cleaner and Smarter Experience
At first glance, One UI 8.5 may not look dramatically different, but Samsung has quietly refined many parts of the interface. The company has introduced smoother animations, redesigned floating pill-style menus, and more customization options for the Quick Panel and lock screen.
The update feels more polished overall, especially for users who spend a lot of time personalizing their Galaxy phones.
Samsung is also improving Quick Share, making file transfers easier and more compatible across devices. The feature now works in a way that feels closer to Apple’s AirDrop experience, something many Galaxy users have wanted for a long time.
AI Features Take Center Stage
The biggest talking point in Samsung One UI 8.5 is Samsung’s growing focus on AI.
The company is bringing several advanced AI tools to newer flagship devices, especially the Galaxy S24 series and above. These include upgraded Photo Assist features, Audio Eraser for removing background noise from videos, Creative Studio tools, and AI-powered call screening.
These features first debuted on the Galaxy S26 lineup earlier this year and are now slowly making their way to older premium devices.
However, not every Galaxy phone will receive the full AI package.
For Galaxy S23 users and older devices, Samsung appears to be limiting some of the premium AI features. Still, those devices are getting a smarter version of Bixby, now powered by Perplexity AI.
The updated assistant can better understand natural conversations and help users find settings, enable features, or complete tasks more naturally through voice commands. It’s a noticeable improvement over the older Bixby experience that many users had criticized in the past.

How to Check for the Update
If you own an eligible Galaxy device, you can manually check for the update by going to:
Settings → Software Update → Download and Install
Since Samsung releases updates in phases, some users may receive the software earlier than others depending on their country, carrier, and device model.
Samsung Is Clearly Betting Big on AI
With One UI 8.5, Samsung is showing that AI will play a major role in the future of Galaxy smartphones. While some advanced features remain limited to newer flagship models, the update still brings meaningful improvements for a wider range of devices.
From a cleaner design to smarter voice assistance and better customization, One UI 8.5 feels less like a routine update and more like Samsung’s next step toward a more intelligent Galaxy ecosystem.
