2026 Hyundai Verna Launched at ₹10.98 Lakh — New Variants, More Features and 7 Airbags Added

Hyundai Motor India has quietly rolled out the 2026 model-year update of the popular Hyundai Verna sedan in India. The updated model now starts at ₹10.98 lakh (ex-showroom) and comes with new variant names, a few cosmetic tweaks, added features and improved safety.

While the overall design and engine options remain largely the same, Hyundai has refreshed the Verna lineup to keep it competitive in the mid-size sedan segment.

One of the biggest changes is the new variant naming system, which now includes HX2, HX4, HX6, HX6 Plus, HX8 and HX10 trims.

What’s New in the 2026 Hyundai Verna?

The updates may not look dramatic at first glance, but Hyundai has added a few practical improvements and small design touches.

Slight Increase in Size

The new Verna is 30 mm longer than the previous version, which slightly improves its road presence.

Dimensions:

  • Length – 4565 mm (+30 mm)
  • Width – 1765 mm
  • Height – 1475 mm
  • Wheelbase – 2670 mm
  • Boot Space – 528 litres

Design Updates

On the outside, the Verna keeps its futuristic styling, but Hyundai has made small refinements to the front design.

The headlamp cluster now features a cleaner housing, while the LED projector headlamps, LED turn indicators and LED fog lamps remain. The front bumper has also been slightly tweaked.

The sedan continues with its wide connected LED DRL strip across the front, which has become one of the car’s most recognisable design elements.

Other design highlights include:

  • Black front grille
  • 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels (same design as before)
  • Connected LED tail lamps at the rear
  • Bold “Verna” lettering on the boot

Overall, the car still carries the modern and sporty look introduced with the current generation.

New Colour Options

The 2026 Verna also adds two new colour options to its palette:

  • Classy Blue
  • Titan Grey (Matte finish)

Existing colour choices include:

  • Starry Night
  • Atlas White
  • Abyss Black

Interior and Feature Additions

Inside the cabin, the layout remains familiar with the black-and-white interior theme and the dual-screen dashboard setup.

However, Hyundai has introduced a few new convenience features to make the cabin feel more premium.

New Features Added

  • Memory function for the 8-way power adjustable driver seat
  • Powered tailgate
  • 4-way power adjustable front passenger seat
  • Rear window sunshades

Another noticeable change is the new steering wheel featuring Hyundai’s Morse-code ‘H’ logo, similar to what we have seen in the latest version of the Hyundai Venue.

Existing Key Features

The Verna continues with several premium features such as:

  • Ventilated front seats
  • Electric sunroof
  • 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (via adapter)
  • 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Multi-colour ambient lighting
  • Automatic climate control with rear AC vents

Improved Safety Package

Hyundai has also strengthened the Verna’s safety equipment with a few notable upgrades.

The biggest change is the addition of seven airbags, compared to six airbags earlier.

New safety additions include:

  • 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitor
  • Built-in dashcam

Other safety features include:

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • All-wheel disc brakes
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Electronic parking brake with auto-hold
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
  • Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)

This makes the Hyundai Verna one of the safest sedans in the mid-size segment.

Engine Options Remain the Same

Mechanically, nothing has changed. The Verna continues with two petrol engine options.

1.5-litre Naturally Aspirated Petrol

  • Power: 115 PS
  • Torque: 144 Nm
  • Gearbox: 6-speed manual or CVT

1.5-litre Turbo Petrol

  • Power: 160 PS
  • Torque: 253 Nm
  • Gearbox: 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT

The turbo petrol version remains one of the most powerful engines in this segment, offering strong performance for driving enthusiasts.

Rivals in the Segment

In India, the Hyundai Verna competes with several mid-size sedans such as:

  • Honda City
  • Skoda Slavia
  • Volkswagen Virtus

Interestingly, both the Slavia and Virtus are expected to receive a facelift later this year, which could bring more competition.
